After The Bus Rides.
A whole week of holidays with half of it spent on Canoe. Finally, I am getting the hang of it. The tap-tap-paddle-paddle-paddle-blaze. Paddle-paddle-paddle-blaze.
The JK is kind of unstable. By the way, the JK is supposed to be a type of Kayak. Junior K. I think K stands for Kayak. Anyway, Coach taught us that balancing in the boat is similar to us standing on land with a leg in the air. The body will counter-act. Look at yourself in the mirror and raise up your left leg. You will see yourself moving to the right. Its natural. So, in canoe, you are supposed to be able to counter-act when you feel that the boat is not stable. It is supposed to be natural. But, I don't feel it. When the boat tilts to the left, my body will tilt to the left. Centre of gravity off the middle and I capsize. The right way is supposed to be canoe tilting to the left, you tilt to the right. Centre of gravity will force the boat to return to upright position. So that is why I keep capsizing.
The second part of today I never capsize. I am getting happier and happier. Haha.
Today's debrief was kind of cool. I finally made sense of what I am doing. The T1 was for a baby to learn how to crawl and stand. The JK was for the baby to learn how to walk. The Ks will teach us how to run, and run like a sprinter or a marathon runner. This is damn cool.
Coach says that if he has a child, he will bring a cigarette before his child after his child learnt that smoking is bad for health. He said he will want the child to experience how smelly it is. He doesn't want curiosity to make the child want to experience it. He doesn't want peer pressure to bring his child down. I think Coach is very cool. He can think in our way, the teenagers' way. He said, if you think vulgarities are good, when we are running around the Bedok Reservoir, when we meet any random person, speak to him a rude word. Since its good, share it. He just can't predict how many orh-ba-karh we will have after the run.
I think I can learn a lot from him.
I am looking forward to the next water-training. I think I will capsize less than 5 times. Aim.
