Finally, The Philosopher Speaks.

Be yourself. Be comfortable.

Its common to try to do your best in front of strangers, a norm to impress your 1-minute-old friend with a oh-so-fluquent english accent, a well-posed way of sitting and holding your utensils the right way with great dining etiquette. No coughing, no yawning, no corny laughter, no usage of well-used-but-unpleasant phrases in an interrupting phone call. Image and first impression, that's what everyone says and I believe its true. Come on, you do present your best to strange people you don't know. Sometimes, its without your own realisation.

Yes, its natural. You put on your best to amaze people. even peacocks open its nice colourful tail only when it is in the mating season. Is that not presenting one's highest standard?

But to think of it, isn't that just being superficial? So yes, you know that smoking is bad, picking your nose in public is inappropriate, and not eating your vegetables isn't a nice sign. However, when you eat vegetables in front of this person you are trying to impress, do you eat the greens when you are alone?

Sometimes, it may not even be what you are within. Do you feel comfortable in conversing in English? Or do you speak in fluent and oh-so-impressive English that make you feel so great and outstanding but not comfortable? (This is another great topic to talk about. Will address it tomorrow, or rather, next time. I can't promise. I am always busy. By the way, the topic is 'English is superior. or not.')

So many questions, so many inappropriate things that are brought up. So many ideas, so many content. Nonetheless, what I want to put across is this, that in impressing, are you contented and happy? Are you feeling just yourself?

Are you not tired? Not exhausted in being that all-rounder that seems to appear in television serials and books in young adult collection and anywhere, but not in your house and your school/office?

I did that, and was tired.

Nevertheless, I see a lot of actors around and they don't seemed tired. I wonder. Don't you think about it too? How can one speak in a tone that is foreign to himself/herself? How can one stuff vegetables into his mouth that is unwilling to open when he is alone with a plate of greens in front of him? I am still puzzled over it.
